Existance of God ?
Just few minutes back me and my family had a great discussion on “Inquiry” on God. My parents, my 2 sisters, my wife and my niece were in this discussion from night 9.30pm till 12.30am. We are generally a god loving and god fearing family at the same my me, my wife and my second sister are sort of close knitted with the idea and practice the “self-image-of-god”. Of course, we are not trying to prove who is right and who is wrong; instead, we are reasoning each and every practice of ours.
Group 1 (Fundamentalists): They believe that there is GOD controlling everything on this earth and the entire universe. Anything that goes against GOD is deemed to be marked as sin. They believe in each and everything that different gods say, practice and preach. They highly believe in different Gurus and Babas. Once they believe in a Guru, whatever guru says, that’s the ultimate truth and there is no need to verify anything. They have GOD as the support system and whenever they get into trouble, they ask GOD for help. They don’s like the idea that you can create your own luck and your own destiny.
Group 2 (Independent Thinkers): They believe that there is a greater power that keeps everything intact in this world. They can’t believe something unless there is a proof and logical (and not religious) explanation for it. When someone says “It’s like that”… they follow them with the “Why and How”. They like to believe in them selves and each and every consequence is the result of their action. If they become success, it’s because they worked hard and gained certain skills in life that helped them. Instead of keeping their support system in GOD, they believe in their wife, friends and parents. They believe that Parents and Teachers are the greatest people who make you as areal Person and grateful to them.
Questions from Independent Thinkers :
- “Everyone is same in front of God” is the popular belief. If this is the case, why do different people have different problems in life. There is a great disparity in lives, wealth and growth of people. Person whom we see would have done a great work at their home and work but would have had a pitiful death.
- As a Father, one would take care of their kids till the death. If one considers GOD to be the father, why does he inflict pain and suffering in people. Does GOD likes the one who worships him a lot ?
- Many scriptures talk about the “Karma”. Whatever you do in this life is carry forwarded to next life and this life is completely the result of previous. If we back track like this, there is one life in which all of us have a clean chit and we all are real good guys. Then God had some weird ideas and made some good and some bad. Why does he need to create the bad guys ? Can’t he suggest or reprimand his own kids about good and bad things. On the other hand, if every decision is mine, what is the need of GOD ?
- If i need to anyway take the pain and pay my debts of my past sins, why should i care about GOD ?
- God is the one who created the Lion in jungle and Lion eats all the animals and had great power and strength. Does that mean that the Lion is bad and it will go to hell ? So, now GOD is the one who gave it the natural power and he is the one who is punishing it (because it kills and eats smaller animals)?
- If Gurus and Babas are correct and they are the ultimate gods, then whatever they say also MUST happen. The fact that many of us see different results of such predictions indicates that we should be cautious to know what to follow and what not to follow. Blind faith is dangerous for everyone.

- If you listen to Ramayana, MahaBharata and other Puranams, you get quite confused about the interpretations of Gurus. Not to mention the names of gurus, One started saying that Ramayana should be treated as though Rama and Sita are ONLY human beings. And on several occations, he also talks about they did something as a human but in their mind they know that they are here for a purpose. The author tries to substantiate whatever Rama/Sita/Lakshmana does in the whole plot. In the end, we get a feeling that a sentense can be interpreted in a number of ways. And the spiritual leaders tries to PUSH this idea of Ramayana into people by POSITIVE interpretation of an action even though it’s not.
- e.g. During the Sitapaharana scenes, Rama goes out to get the Golden Deer and once Deer shouts in the voice of Rama, Sita gets worried. At that time Sita says lot of bad things to Lakshmana, who initally refuses to go out to protect Rama. Sita suspects lakshmana that he wants Sita and he was with them only to kill Rama and then marry Sita. Once these verses are over, almost all the interpreters say that she says this not because Lakshmana is bad but unless she says this he will not go out. She knows that they are here for the purpose and the purpose is to kill Ravana. In this manner, if an author goes on supporting whatever is said by the Ramayana characters, then everything they say seems to be CORRECT. There is no logical explanation but you just need to believe it without thinking further.
Of course we did not get answers to many of our questions and we are still in the discussion process. Please do let us know what you think about this topic and i would like to hear more about your experiences and beliefs.

I lived in Germany during 2001 – 2005 and each and every place is so wonderful that i still cant stop thinking about these places. I as living in Stuttgart and we had to go to Garmisch-Partenkirchen and from there you could either take a cable car or go by walk.
Though i am living in USA from past 3 years, i have not seen such a beautiful place. The early morning walk with a lot of fog, beautiful green pine trees and old houses with little bit of snow and rich culture is what i miss here.
Anyway, my Saahithi is 1 month old now and i am sure that we will visit Germany, Austria, Italy, Spain, Swiss and France again before i retire

Thanks to Fremont Fire Department
On 05.31.2009 at 3.40am PST i was in deep sleep to realize the smoke and suffocation. When I woke up, i realized that the smoke is due to fire and i could hear a fire alarm. I went to all the rooms to check if it is not coming from my apartment and then i opened my bedroom’s window to see that a car is on fire. Of course in real life this is the first time i saw fire coming out of a car and the fire was intense. The immediate thing i did was to call the 911 and they in turn connected to the fire department. I gave the address of apartment and location and they were here in the location in 2.5 minutes.
This is the first time that i saw the fire rescue team and they were very prompt to take the hose and immediately started the water. After 10 minutes the fire came down but there was a lot of smoke coming out of the engine. So they used some ultra high-fi cutters to cut open the hood and sprayed the extinguisher.
The entire operation took around 2 hours and all the while i was thinking about the adverse effects of the fire if no one would have seen it. If the fire came to the gas tank, it would have been a disaster and all the wood railings would have caught fire. Anyway, with great sincerity i extend my tanks to Fremont Fire Department for their good work. Probably t his is a real small incident that fire department takes care of, but for me i understand the amount of brevity, timely action and courage they show to rescue and proactively put off 100s and 1000s of fire incidents.

Matrix lover gets cold…
Today it is the saddest incident in the history of entire human species. No one has ever seen the domination of the this bad virus (cold) over the human race. We humans have always prevailed and we will. Today we are less energetic, these bad guys (virus) have taken our physical strength; However we are as strong as ever and we are strengthened mentally. We will show them once again that human will and power always outlives the physical nature.
Today is the day that we will not give into these bad guys. We will gather all our armies and ammunition and be ready to prevail and thrive. We will show them once again that we are HUMANS and they are BAD guys. Today we need to show our courage, strength and endurance. We will not fall pray to any of the bad allies (anti-bio-tics), we will keep all our friendship but use none.
Finally my friends, hold on to your faith and will. Tomorrow is a new day and we the HUMAN race is going have another victory and we will kick these bad guys butt off and make them run into the black holes.

Tips on traveling with an infant
- Carrier, Carseat and Crib:
- Make sure your carseat is FAA approved; DO bring it, and use it in the seat on plane, if you bought the baby a ticket. Know where the FAA sticker is on the carseat, and be ready to show the flight attendant on plane when you board (they will ask). To carry carseat in airport: I buckle the seat belt, loosen them all the way, and shoulder-strap it ; put baby in stroller. You might have to check the base, if you have that; or just use seatbelt routing in CO and leave it at home (or have family there buy an extra base).
- Make sure that your car seat can be used on the plane (if you bought a seat for your baby). The airline web site should have info on this.
- We checked in the car seat the first time round and she sat on my lap through the flight. In our last trip, we rented a car seat and a stroller at our destination. The cost of checking in a car seat equaled renting one.
- I recommend a car-seat cover/bag. We had a Graco car seat and Graco also makes a nylon bag that zips around the car seat so that when you do check it at the door of the plane, it won’t get dirty/wet. It is a minor annoyance to have to stop at the plane door to zip it in, but worth it to keep the seat clean. I think we got it on-line from babysRus or somewhere
- If possible, ask someone at your destination to arrange for a crib or pack n’ play for sleeping.
- We took both a baby bjorn carrier for me and what is, I think, called a “Moby” carrier for my wife (its like a huge scarf that you use to “wrap” the baby against your chest…like an old-school bjorn basically but different from those baby “sling” things). The moby was a god-send since, for our baby, that thing was basically a sleeping-pill. In the moby, the baby slept for the ENTIRE trip from the time we left our house in Menlo Park until we arrived at the in-laws in San Diego. But it can be tedious to get into/out-of on the plane itself, so we used the bjorn actually on the plane because my arms got too tired to walk him around without it for so long (once was over an hour).
- When I traveled with my son when the restrictions came into effect, strollers and especially car seats did not count towards your baggage count, but I would check with your carrier to confirm.
- If you are renting a car there, you can rent a carseat with that.
- Entertainment:
- Cheerios (if they can eat that), other small finger-food bites help entertain them and feed them. Otherwise, whatever small books/toys they like and can fit in diaper bag. Walk w/ them, bounce, show window… show them other kids on plane, they love to stare at each other.
- We traveled last month and brought a Baby Einstein video that kept him occupied for 30 minutes.
- Buy some new toys for the plane, preferably quiet ones so you don’t disturb your neighbors.
- On the plane:
- Bring bottle to feed baby, or a pacifier, at takeoff & landing, to pop their ears from pressure.
- We once took seats right in the front of the plane where they usually put the bassinet and found the seating very uncomfortable as we could not lift the arm rests. This made it very difficult to feed her as she kept hitting her head against the arm rest.
- For the plane, bring plenty of bottles, formula (if you’re not breastfeeding), diapers and a couple of changes of clothes. You never know what delays you might experience, especially at Christmas. A change of clothes for yourself is a good idea as well.
- Not sure if bassinets are an option on domestic flights but, you should ask your airline right now if your baby is under 25lbs and assuming you did not buy a seat for the infant. On international flights, bassinets that hook into the bulkhead and/or sit on the floor are provided at no additional charge (first-come basis but you can/should reserve). This does mean you would likely get the bulkhead seats, which don’t have space to put stuff under the seat in front of you but having someplace to alternatively put the baby to sleep and/or put all your junk is a HUGE help. Again, not sure if these are an option on domestic flights but we had them international on United.
- We found aisle seats to be better than window so that it is easy to get up and walk the aisles with the baby to keep them from crying.
- Good idea to pack some big ziplocs and/or small trashbags to stick poop-y baby clothes in. Really a drag if you have no where to stick them.
- Might want to consider some sort of hat or maybe just a blanket to cover them a bit to make it dark. Since you don’t control the lighting, they alway seem to have the lights on bright when you least want it.
- Don’t forget to board early. If the baby is fussy, you may want your partner to go ahead and board with all the junk and get situated while you pace around with the baby in the waiting area until the last second so that you don’t feel trapped in the seat with screaming baby.
- Change your baby’s diaper about 20 minutes before your flight is scheduled to depart. This makes sure that your baby’s at least comfortable for the lift off when you have to have your seatbelt fastened.
- Security:
- You don’t need an ID to travel domestic and a photocopy of the birth certificate can be carried in lieu.
- As for formula, we took the pre-made formula bottles ( 8 ounces Similac bottles) and put those in in clear plastic bags and showed it at the time of the security check. This is easier than mixing formula on flight.
- We also always made sure that the only thing in the diaper bag was baby stuff. It made security check points much easier when they did have to empty and check it all.
- We used pre-packed powder formula packets, and bought two bottles of bottled water once we were past security. We used the water we bought for feedings when not on a flight, and then asked for water while on a flight. (Saved space and the hassle of an extra liquid through security). If you normally pump, then if at all possible, fill bags AFTER checkpoint, rather then before. (I have had to taste test milk at security check points, my wife so nicely pumped BEFORE, rather then later.
- Strollers:
- Use a light umbrella stroller thru the airport, and gate-check it at boarding (assume is free). If you have a light “docking” stroller like SnapNGo to put an infant carrier in instead, that is even better- holds both, gate-check it.
- Ask to check your stroller at the gate.
- We have a BOB stroller and it has a luggage bag that worked out because I checked it at the curb, and then carried the the baby through security, to the plane in the sling. Then for the car seat, I had a large weekend bag (from lands end) that I also checked at the curb. The way the luggage representatives check it in, you shouldn’t be charged for the extra pieces.

- I also recommend that you look-up a head of time the ped’s in the area you are traveling to, so you have their numbers and where the best place is to go if you need to hit an after-hours clinic at 11pm some night.
- You may want to order the diapers and wipes from amazon and have them shipped to your destination before you arrive.
Life Insurance : Term vs Permanent
I want to a Life Insurance and i am confused between the Term and Permanent Insurance. Insurance agents contacted me and gave me loads of info.
Many are recommending the Permanent/Life Policy. In this case i need to pay for almost around 20 years and then the policy is mine and i do not have to pay for life long. At the end of the 20 years, i also have the money value accrued and i can withdraw if i need for some interest. Its probably like taking the bank loan.
The second type of insurance is the Term Insurance and its in the phases of 10, 15, 20 years of time. This probably costs only couple of hundreds of dollars but its not permanent. you need to pay the heavy insurance premiums all the time, as long as you need the coverage.
The also said if i take a policy for the kids (also new born), i would probably need to pay only for 15-16 years and they would have the Insurance for the life time. Not sure, if this is a marketing trick or it really helps kids, when they grow up.
Appreciate if you can share your experiences and which one do you think is better. Do you recommend New York Life ?

Natural Living in modern society
Some Now-a-days life is filled with Coke, Pepsi, Pizza, Pasta, Mac’s Cheese Burgers, KFC’s Chicken, French Fries, Tacos, and other Indian dishes like Biriyani, Dal Makhani, Butter Nan, Garlic Nan with Butter, Hyderabadi Chicken, Chettinad Chicken, Rice with 4-5 varieties for Lunch and Dinner, etc… They all make us feel good when we eat but also act as a slow poison in the years to come. Now-a-days many of us are recognizing that we have a chronic problem only when it strikes us in a bad way. If one is lucky, he/she gets a chance to survive and correct the mistake but there are some unfortunate ones who do not have this luxury.
In this article I would like to see the present conditions of our habits’ and then go on with what I had done to make mine and my family’s health better.
These days its normal that:
- Kids (4-10 years) are Obese;
- They drink only Coke, Burgers, Pizza and all other Indian deep fried stuff, be it vegetarian or meat.
- Heart Stroke for Young Generation
- Many at the age of 20-40 are susceptible for heart diseases. Blame it on food, lifestyle, stress what ever you call it, it’s a fact. And no one likes this fact.
- Kids and Youth fall pray of Diabetes
- I heard a case where 7 year old is suffering from Diabetes
- One of my close relative got it at the age of 13 and every days he takes 2 shots of insulin with so much of control over the food
- People can’t stand Stress; So Thyroid Problems
- All are so busy in our daily lives; no one has time to relax.
- Once in a year vacation is of no good. You get stressed out 350 days a year and say you are relaxing for 15 days. Equation does not match!!
Change in Life Style:
- Drink Coke/Pepsi (carbonated drinks) INSTEAD of Water
- Effects : Stomach, Waste Removal Mechanism
- Eat out site JUNK food INSTEAD of HomeMade breakfast
- Effects : Stomach, Digestive System, Liver
- Eat Deep Fried Food INSTEAD of Raw or Boiled food.
- Effects : Stomach, Digestive System, Liver
- Drink Alcohol INSTEAD of Fruit Juices
- Effects : Stomach, Liver
- Cigarette Smoking / Cigar / Hukka
- Effects : Oral Cancer, Lungs
- Sleep for 5 or 4 hours INSTEAD of 8 hours of sleep
- Effects : Stress, Mental Health
- No Exercise INSTEAD of minimum 1 hour need by body
- Effects : When you don’t sweat, body waste does not go out. More salts gets deposited in the body. Bad for your cells.
- Eat dinner at 9.00pm-11.00pm INSTEAD of 7.00pm – 8.00pm.
- Effects : You consume more energy while awake than sleeping. Its good to eat early so that most of energy is spent while awake. While sleeping, the EXTRA energy is converted to fats. (I am assuming that you sleep immediately after you eat at night 9.00pm-11.00pm)
- Over Eat on Weekends INSTEAD of Resting your stomach
- Effects: Like you your stomach also works hard ALL the time. Churning all the JUNK that you eat. Is it a fair deal ?
- And many other which you and I know…
What’s my Motivation :
I have been in Germany for few years and soon after in US since 2007. It’s very common for many of us to complain that as soon as someone comes to US, they put on weight and become obese. It’s easy to blame US and the life style (to some extent it’s true).
Of course this happens now-a-days even in India. Many of educated families stick to “Single Child” policy, they feel feeding their kid is the ONLY thing that they can do in their life. They feed so much right from the childhood that all the “fat cells” grow a lot by the time they are adults and it becomes near to IMPOSSIBLE to reduce.
I heard some good lectures and programs about “Dr . Mantena Satyanarayana Raju” in Maa TV and also in couple of other online sites like TeluguBhakti and TeluguOne. Till that time I have heard many people suggesting about “drinking more water”, “eating less salt”, “doing more exercises”; but none gave me the LOGICAL consequences. Dr. Raju talks very nicely about the WHY and HOW aspects of the health. Once anyone listens to his lectures, it’s difficult NOT to follow him.
What’s the Deal :
- Drink More Water everyday – Help keep your system clean.
- Eat More Vegetables and Fruits THAN Cooked Food.
- Eat food that contains MORE nutritious value and LESS calorific value
- Do more Exercise – Help your body to shed the extra salts
- Do Yoga or Meditation – Keep your body and brain relaxed
- Eat early dinner (6.00pm to 7.30pm) – If that sounds crazy; I pity you.
- Prefer foods with Less Sodium and More Potassium
Saying what to eat does not qualify to HOW you do it. I have been practicing the Natural Lifestyle from past 6 months and I am the happiest person to know that I am still continuing. More than a habit, it’s setting up your MIND; believing that this method would make you healthier, happier and stronger.
My Schedule:
- No Sugar in any of Juices
- No Salt in any of the Boiled Vegetables or Sandwich
- If you can reduce meat intake that would be good and if you totally cut meat that’s excellent.
- Dinner dishes are one OR the other. Not ALL or SOME of them.
Of course this schedule is not found in one single Day. It took almost 5 months for me to get adjusted to the schedule and to practice it as a daily routine.
Here is what I did each month:
1st Month : Water in the morning
This might sound simple for many of you but it’s NOT. I am a kind of person who used to drink only 3-4 glasses a day (which is very less). The taste of water some times gives a kind of loath and your stomach will be reluctant to take it. So, take you time and practice it everyday to take some more water. Many say that they drink water DURING the day; the big difference we are talking about is to drink at the BEGINNING of the day. As you are with empty stomach, it’s easy for your body to carryout the flushing activities.
2nd Month : Fruit Bowl in the Morning
For many who eat Indian Break Fast or even the American Break Fast this shounds too extreme. The idea of not eating the cooked food itself seems to be crazy, but not at all. Once you start eating fruits in the morning, you will feel fresh about it.Thus make sure that at the end of 2nd month you are good with Drinking water in the morning and also Fruit Bowl for Break Fast.
3rd Month and 4th Month : Less Oil, Less Salt at Lunch Time
This is the most difficult part, but yet achievable. If one knows the bad side affects of the Oil and Salt, I guess no one will actually cook food with them. Often we are comfortable in out own world and we would not want to leave out daily habits. Having 3 chapatis along with lots of vegetable curries and lentils is the best way to give necessary vitamins and minerals that body needs.
5th Month: Vegetables and Fruits at Night
This is the ultra difficult stuff for anyone to do it. But If one needs to dream a good health for life long you have to. There is no choice. You either eat junk food and compromise on Health or eat good food and get great health. At the end of the 5 months you are more or less good with the good eating habits. By this time you can also feel that you are not able to tolerate any of the junk food and you would not even want to eat oily food.
Tips and Tricks:
- Do NOT force your self at any point of time.
- If you can’t drink too much of water initially, try to start with 1 or 2 glasses and gradually increase the intake.
- You will have some sudden burst of the food intake like pizzas, rice, biriyani, etc… when you feel like having some thing like that just make it at home or go out and have it.
- Do not force your family members to do it. If you do it they will naturally follow.
- No coffee or tea at all. They are slow poison.
- If you do not like people who take alcohol or smokes cigarettes then you should also hate people who take coffee and tea. Your body does not need them. It is you who is forcing coffee or tea on your body.

Potassium: Adequate intake of Potassium can generally be guaranteed by eating a variety of foods containing potassium and deficiency is rare in healthy individuals eating a balanced diet. Foods with high sources of potassium include orange juice, potatoes, bananas, avocados, tomatoes, broccoli, soybeans and apricots, although it is also common in most fruits, vegetables and meats. Diets high in potassium can reduce the risk of hypertension. Potassium is a nutrient necessary for human life and health. Potassium chloride is used as a substitute for table salt by those seeking to reduce sodium intake so as to control hypertension. Good dietary sources of potassium include celery juice. The USDA lists tomato paste, orange juice, beet greens, white beans, bananas, and many other good dietary sources of potassium, ranked according to potassium content per measure shown.
Sodium: Sodium ions (often referred to as just “sodium”) are necessary for regulation of blood and body fluids, transmission of nerve impulses, heart activity, and certain metabolic functions. Interestingly, although sodium is needed by animals, which maintain high concentrations in their blood and extracellular fluids, the ion is not needed by plants. A completely plant-based diet, therefore, will be very low in sodium.
